In this enlarged portion of the 1875 stereoview, you can clearly see the two passenger cars and people standing on the bridge. On the far bank you can see the Portage Railroad Station and some other structures. There is also an interesting structure on the wall of the gorge - it appears to be a wooden "slide" which was probably used during the construction. Sometime later, a series of stairs near the slide would give tourists access to the bottom of the bridge. Click here to return to the main image.
